Overview of Tour

The green and hawksbill turtles enjoy a safe haven on Selingan Island, commonly known as Selingan Turtle Island. Despite the fact that both turtle species are currently in risk of extinction, the island provides a safe site for them to lay their eggs. The island is a recognised national park and turtle conservation area in the Sulu Sea, only 40 kilometres north of Sandakan's beaches. You can visit and stay there to see the incredible spectacle of turtle landings for yourself! Turtles come ashore to lay their eggs throughout the year, but they typically do so after nightfall. The ideal time to visit Selingan island is in between July and October. Today, the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitations center is a popular tourist attraction, with visitors able to witness the rehabilitation process as well as observe orangutans in their natural habitat from a boardwalk.

8:00am

Pick up from your hotel or airport. Transfer to the jetty.

9:30am

The boat to Turtle Island leaves at 09:30. Selingan Turtle Island, 40 km north of Sandakan in the Sulu Sea, is accessible in about an hour and is located off the east coast of Sabah. Green and Hawksbill turtles primarily lay their eggs on Selingan Turtle Island. Lunch will be serve and free time for you to lounging, swimming, and snorkelling. Prepare to wait for the park ranger to announce the discovery of a turtle laying eggs after dinner. See the eggs being removed from the nest, the eggs being planted in the hatchery, and the hatchling turtles running to the sea as they are released on the shore.

7:00am

Breakfast and check from Selingan Turtle Island Chalet. 0700hrs, an hour boat ride to Sandakan. Meet our driver. Step aboard your air-conditioned vehicle, relax back, and take in the scenery as you go to the renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, which is located in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. Upon arrival, your guide will give you a briefing. Before travelling a boardwalk through the lowland rainforest to see the feeding platform, see a documentary on the rehabilitation of orphaned orang utans. At 1000 hours, observe the orang utans being fed Drop-off at Sandakan Airport or Hotel.
