Sepilok Orang Utan + Labuk Bay + City Tour Daytrip
Overview of Tour
Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, located in Sabah, Borneo, was established in 1964 by Barbara Harrison. It was the first center in the world solely dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned orangutans, and is situated on the edge of the Kabili forest reserve. Today, the center is a popular tourist attraction, with visitors able to witness the rehabilitation process as well as observe orangutans in their natural habitat from a boardwalk. The Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, which was made accessible to the public in 2000, provides a shelter for the local fauna that is imprisoned by the Sulu Sea to the north and encroaching palm oil fields to the south. Approximately 300 proboscis monkeys live in Labuk Bay, one of the Borneo Islands' most isolated proboscis monkey populations, along with other animals like Silvered-Leaf Langurs and Oriental-Pied Hornbills.
